THE GOSPEL: THE GOOD NEWS FOR & IN LIFE

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

We believe the Gospel is good news for life because God saves sinners through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and those who repent and believe are made right with God. We believe the Gospel is good news in life because the grace of the Gospel provides everything we need for life and godliness. This means a Christian never grows out of a need for the Gospel. The Gospel is the only good news sufficient for justification, sanctification, and glorification. It frees us from the penalty of sin, the power of sin, and ultimately the presence of sin.

2 Corinthians 3:18, 5:17; Romans 1:16-17; Colossians 1:3-6; 2 Peter 1:3; Romans 8:29

COMMUNITY: THE GOOD NEWS FORMS A FAMILY

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

 Ephesians 2:19–22

We believe the Gospel forms a family by reconciling us to God and others. The Christian life cannot be lived in isolation. The way we love one another not only proves that we are Christ’s disciples but serves as an apologetic to the watching world and presents to them the reality of the Kingdom of God.

Ephesians 2:11-22; John 13:34-35, 17:11; Acts 2:42-47, 4:32-37; 1 John 3:11-24

MISSION: THE GOOD NEWS SENDS US ON MISSION

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18–20

We believe the Gospel sends us on mission to declare and demonstrate the good news to all people. Mission takes place within the context of everyday life - homes, neighborhoods, vocation, and recreation. Mission is individual and communal. The calling of the church is to be on mission together.

Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; John 20:21; 1 Peter 2:11-12
